Did you know?

A digital piano will lose approximately 40% to 50% of all it's value within the first 5 years, in contrast to an acoustical piano which will only lose about 15% of it's value over 10 years.

Services :: Appraisals & Estimates

Appraisals provide the owner, seller, or prospective buyer the information they need to make important decisions.

An Appraisal can convert a large amount of information into a simple, easy to understand report. This report will usually contain information such as a short history of the piano's maker, serial number, date the instrument was made, an estimate of the instrument's current market value, a list of work that the piano would benefit from (along with the estimated costs for such work), and the estimated value of the piano if the listed work were completed. Finally, an appraisal will usually include helpful notes and suggestions from the technician performing the appraisal.

Almost without fail the used piano market is saturated with instruments listed as "Just needs a tuning" - yet from our experience most of these instruments are in need of much more. Unless the instrument's owner is familiar with the technical aspects of a piano's function and repair, the sale of these pianos should simply be considered "as is".

Please see our "Buying and Selling a Piano" article in the Information Library for some helpful guides.

An estimate is similar to an appraisal and includes much of the information found on an appraisal. The main difference between the two is that an estimate is focused on the instrument's needs for servicing. Our estimates will generally present the owner with multiple options to resolve the piano's needs, from basic necessary repairs all the way to an estimate for a rebuilding. This provides the owner with the information they need to decide which options are best for them and their budgets.

If the owner employs Parks & Sons to complete one of the suggest work schedules in an estimate, half the cost of the estimate will be credited towards that work.
